If this was my problem, I'd probably go and put my system back in the original non-MoCA configuration to verify that everything still works, this would be with the Comcast Gateway in bridge mode, and the TP-Link router being used as the WiFi router. If it does then putting a second MoCA filter on the input to the Comcast gateway might eliminate the interference. There's also a chance that your Comcast Gateway has MoCA or DECA which could result in interference, you would have to check the spec sheets for the Comcast Gateway to see if it has either. You didn't give the make/models for the equipment that you are trying to use, so I can only give generic info. Other MoCA info, there should be a MoCA filter on the main cable coming into your place to make sure that you are not broadcasting your MoCA signal around the neighborhood or get interference from other MoCA adapters that may be in your neighborhood. In general it the splitters you already have work with MoCA, then there's no reason to replace them. But these need to be MoCA compatible splitters or splitters that just happen to pass the MoCA signals. When this is done, and everything is working as it's supposed to be, you should have the proper indicator lights and you should be able to get internet/network connectivity through the second MoCA adapter.īig picture is that MoCA requires a "direct" connection between the two coax cables that you are wanting to use but there can be splitters and the line in the path. The second MoCA adapter should go Coax wall > MoCA adapter (coax in), and if the two adapters are connected and working correctly you should get some kind of indicator light on both MoCA adapters showing a good RF connection, and if there is a device connected on the second MoCA adapter you should get an Ethernet light/indication of some sort. The Ethernet should go Cable Modem (WAN/Internet port) > Router (WAN in port) > Router (LAN out port) > MoCA adapter (LAN in port).Īnd, the Internet Gateway should be in bridge mode, and a single Ethernet should run from it and to your TP-Link router. Let's try again, the final configuration should have the coax cable run from the Coax wall > MoCA Adapter (cable in) > MoCA Adapter (TV/modem out > Cable Modem (Coax port).

Speeds tests are fabulous but getting intermittent full ping drops.Įdit #3: Ordered a GE Splitter 5-2500 Mhz that was moca compatible to test. The Ethernet should go Cable Modem (WAN/Internet port) > Router (WAN in port) > Router (LAN out port) > Switch > MoCA adapter (LAN in port).Įdit #2 (Problems): Intermittent drops in room with 2nd Moca Adapter.Coax wall > MoCA Adapter (cable in) > MoCA Adapter (TV/modem out > Cable Modem (Coax port).

I currently do not have Cable TV just Internet.Įdit #1: Got it working with the suggestion with this Setup: The instructions say to go Coax Wall > Moca > Ethernet to Router / Modem (but my router and modem are 2 different devices). My main question is that since I have a modem and router separate do I need a splitter from my Coax outlet to use a Moca adapter setup? Or could I use the TV OUT on the Moca adapter to hook to the Cable Modem. I have Coax running into the house going to the wall to the Comcast Modem (bridge) to a TP-Link Router. I am currently using Hitron Moca 2.5 adapters: I had question regarding setup for for Moca 2.5. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
